My mistakes... your perfection
The day is short
The night is young
Untold stories
Tales unsung
You leave me here
I fade away
My own mistakes
A sickening gray
And yet you loved me
Saw it through
I had no light
No gift for you
Unworthy, hopeless
Lost in doubt
You sought my face
To seek me out
A light eternal
Filled my eyes
I saw the ground
I see the skies
Your beauty striking
Your wondrous pose
Your eyes like clouds
Each cheek a rose
You gave me life
You gave me heart
You were my light
Inside the dark
Yet I did nothing
Did not repay
Your wondrous gift
The light of day
Saw right through you
Held you not
Abused the one
Who for me sought
I deserve nothing
And that I see
Was price to pay
For being me
You charged me not
Took not the day
Defiled not
A single ray
You left me suffering
Just and true
Payment enough:
I now lose you
And while the day shines
Bright and gay
Inside my soul
There is no day
So I shall wander
Years on end
Hoping to find you again
And yet I know you won't return
A stinging pain
A linging burn
It gnaws inside me
Eats my heart
To remember when
You did depart
While I may find her
Sweet one day
I'll know just why
You didn't stay
An ode to justice
My mistakes
Your selfess love
The light of day
