A poem by R. S. McIntosh
The true poem need not consist
of many lines that bend and twist.
Every other line
Doesn't have to rhyme
All the time!

A poem should make you feel good.
Not bad,
Not sad,
But glad to be you!

The poet writes a poem to suit himself,
not to suit some crazy elf.

Some poets like to keep times,
others love to make up rhymes.
I'm glad I'm not of that ilk,
So what if my poems aren't as smoothe as silk?

Who cares? I wrote 'em!
I made 'em up to suit myself
and not to suit some crazy elf!
