ISLAND OF DESIRE

From the ship an island was seen,
Richly garbed in lush velvet green;
Inviting in the sailors, one and all,
To answer the sirens' hypnotic call.

A
mystic quality in the air,
The
island appeared from nowhere;
Silken sand welcomed the feet of men
Who would never sail the seas again.

Exotic flowers lent a scent of perfume
That led many a young man to his doom;
Their emotions rising ever higher,
Until they are consumed with fire.

The women danced a dance of death
As the sailors clung to a last breath;
Desire in hearts so long at sea,
This
island was no place to be.

Somewhere on the barren coast of Maine,
Another ship, with men insane,
Who fled the passion and the pain;
Tell of those not seen again.

An
island of desire far away,
They cannot find it again, to this day;
Uncharted, somewhere in the sea,
Forever lost in their memory.
