What is in a kiss?
We met on one hot summer night.
Two strangers sitting in the dim-lit light.
Gentle music rolled upon the evening air.
Our eyes were locked in a flirtatious stare.
You smiled at me, and the silence broke,
My heart pounding with the words you spoke.

As I sat there smiling, across from you,
I wondered was this really true.
It seemed so much like a lovely dream,
Could you be more than what you seem?
This couldn't have been a more perfect night,
for I thought I'd found my Mr. Right.

We sneaked off alone into the dark,
For a moonlit stroll through an empty park.
Our hands were locked in sweet embrace,
While you planted tiny kisses upon my face.
With your arms wrapped around me,
I realized this is where I want to be.

You walked me silently to my door,
Where, standing together, I hoped for more.
You moved the hair back from my face,
To expose my mouth to your fingers' trace.
The touch of your hand was so divine,
As you pressed your desirous lips to mine.

We said goodbye; you walked away.
Our kisses spoke what we did not say.
You turned with one last look at me,
Then turned your back on our love-to-be.
I closed the door with a softening sigh,
Convinced I had found a wonderful guy.

But days have passed with no word from you,
And love has once again turned blue.
I thought we had forged a moment together,
Something that we both would treasure.
What was that lie that I had missed,
In a traitor's breath on the night we kissed?
