worst way to miss someone- sitting right next to them and knowing you can't have them
Watched you walk towards me
Wished you would spare a glance
A smile or nod
Wished you would notice
You got closer with every step
Could you have been ready?
Ready to look or smile or nod...

No
You changed direction
Looked to the ground
I saw your jaw clench
Feel you tearing farther from me
God you're so stubborn
Why do you do this to me?
To you?
I'm hoping one day you'll realize
All suffering is self-inflicted
And maybe when we're both big scars
We'll come to terms with that

But I'm also hoping
That it won't take that long
I'm ready to plunge head first
Into the pain
And come back up
Better for it and free
But I can't make it without you
For as long as you hurt
I will as well
Every time I try to surface
You're the cement block around my ankles
Making me sink back down
Down to you
And I'd love to be there
Just not surrounded by the pain

So let's not drown in it darling
Let's help each other through
Because that's what friends do
And that's what we're supposed to be
That's what you said you wanted
I hate it when you make me doubt you
I saw you as someone I could trust
Don't tell me that you lied.
