The beginnings of a novel that begins in the Philippine Islands.
As I sat squatting on the cold shower floor, I shivered as buckets of cold water were poured over my naked body. Visions of oriental tortures might come to my mind if it were not for the fact that the water was being applied by an equally naked 90 pound girl whose sole intention was to get me cleaner than I thought humanly possible. To her this was but a normal daily occurrence, not knowing the blissful comforts of a warm American shower. Her dedication to my cleanliness was only an extension of the love and devotion she had extended to me from the day we first met.

As I looked at her from my inglorious squat, I came to the realization that this small but terrible woman was more than just a chance liaison in a far off Asian country. She was by far the most incredible woman I had ever known. I watched as she worked. No smile, no shy bashfulness disturbed the look of attentiveness upon her face. She was caring for “her man” and that is all that mattered. He black hair fell long across her slight frame. Her black eyes flashed whenever they accidentally crossed mine and her brown skin exuded a healthy warmth that I could hardly resist. She is truly the angel of my heart
