poem about A day in the Life
Late last night
I woke up with moonlight in my eyes
You weren't there but I saw you
I saw your smile
I thought I saw you dancing in the dark
Or in the folds of the curtain moved by a breeze
I even held your hand in my hand
I kissed you like the first time
delicately, tentatively deliciously
And I stayed awake tasting the honey
of your red lips all night
and I must have fallen asleep
because the moon escaped
but you stayed looking over my sleep
like a picture on the wall
and all I can think about
during this long day is that
more than anything, more than sleep
I hope to see you tonight
in the dark
