I don't want to spend my time sleeping; soon there'll be plenty of time for that.
SLAM 2004

Bound for Andromeda and Sleepin’ In

Sold my house
Trashed the car
Stopped the paper
Halted the mail
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

Quit my job
Named Boss a jerk
Gave my enemies
A farewell flip
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

Dumped the pictures
Of my naked ex
They’re lying on top
For the garbage men
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

My favorite book
I read again
Then returned it to
The overdue bin
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

Sent the government
An I.O.U.
Let’s see them collect
In a month or two
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

Took my cat to Uncle Joe’s
Ate one last meal
Savoring the pie
That Aunt Bess baked
Started yawning
But I won’t sleep
Soon I'll have time
To do just that

Wrapped my dreams
In silvery fabric
Slid in the capsule
For the long flight out
Started yawning
And now I’ll sleep
There's plenty of time
To do just that
