dreams are short-lived sometimes
Old year year old
Dreams blooming like flowers
brief
bright
beautiful array of petals
opening with teasing
or bursting unlooked for.
Petals dropping
one by one
shriveling

New year.
New blossoms,
dying petals.
Wanting, waiting
Sighing amidst plenty,
Private melancholy
Over so brief a blooming.
