Being horrified of heights -- glass elevators are my worse nightmare
This is a Pantoum (I hope a good one)

New Prompt: Write a pantoum about an elevator. Info:"The Pantoum"

Elevator

Looking out over the bright city lights, trembling as I am risen out of site
While, on the way up in this glass encased ship, I’m standing
Chicago’s night, shining, reflecting brightly, lighting the impending tumble
While losing the battle of reason with myself to the creepy feeling of standing midair

While, on the way up in this glass encased ship, I’m standing
Passing floor after floor, whose heights leave me feeling abandoned
I’m losing the battle of reason with myself to this creepy feeling of standing midair
This elevator is taking me to heights no god had ever intended

Passing floor after floor, whose heights leave me feeling abandoned
And as we go up eternally higher, Chicago lights seem like hells fire
This elevator ride is taking me to heights no god had ever intended
I long to envision myself standing once again on Earth’s ground floor

And as we go up eternally higher, Chicago lights seem like hells fire
My soul begins to search the muck and mire of a life ill spent
I long to envision myself standing once again on Earth’s ground floor
My eyes burning with the gruesome picture of falling to my demise

My soul begins to search the muck and mire of a life ill spent
Just then a feeling of relief sweeps over me, as soon as I realize that
My eyes burning with the gruesome picture of falling to my demise
Is fading. And I welcome the grounds rising, as the elevator slides back down again
