A story about my grandfathers' experience with the navy
Grandpas' Navy Tale

My grandfather was a master welder and civil engineer working as a civilian for the US Navy during World War II. One day an admiral was visiting the shipyard to inspect the work being done. He was there with his entourage reviewing the blueprints. While reviewing the blueprints my grandfather mentioned the error. The admiral responded back; "The Navy does not make mistakes." Grandpa had heard this before and immediately asked the admiral for a pencil. The admiral pulled out a newer pencil and gave it to him. He inspected it for 10 seconds and asked; "What is this, sir?", tapping the eraser which was half gone. The other officers and enlisted grinned and stifled laughs behind the admiral. The blueprints were then corrected.
