nature combined with romantic intimacy
The intense heat had throbbed throughout the day
Building up stores of energy
Pulsing at the seams of the night
Drizzling charges of electricity seeping through
Until it could no longer be contained...

A flash melting in the darkness
The swelling clouds, straining to hold with all their might, burst free -
Releasing to engulf the earth with life.

Purification.

The storm thundered on.
Rain sliding off rooftops forming puddles to encompass its own.
Rain cradled by the wind sent through an open window -
Silencing the candles -
Enveloping the lovers into the night.
The man, the woman, the night -
One heartbeat.

Flashes dazzling the earth and in the lovers’ eyes.
Bodies glistening from the tempo and the rain.
Clouds rolling overhead, aching to be free.
Lightning. Thunder. Lightning. Thunder.
Mind-numbing flash of blue piercing the night.
Iridescence.
Eyes locked.
Rain pouring down.

Thunder off in the distance,
A cool breeze through the window,
As the last few drops of water escape the roof
Entwined lovers drift off to sleep -
At one with the night.

Purified.
