metaphor of life and death
I am a bubble
caught beneath the waves
chained by
entangling, choking weeds;
filled with indefinable Substance
holding the watery pressure back,
giving me form.

I know
if I trust in It,
the Substance will increase;
I will float upward
slowly
toward a glistening Surface
where I shall burst,
leaving feeble shell in watery depths.

I do not mourn that fate-
encasement falling back in droplets
while I at last
fly free.
