When the bond is broken between horse and rider.
DON’T CRY, SILVER

Don't cry, Silver,
for the days that we had
Don't cry for the love
that we shared
Don't cry for my heart
that you always made glad
Don't cry for the way
we were paired

Don't weep for the good times;
the hours in the sun
Don't let the tears stain
your satiny cheeks
You'll have glorious days
to pick up and run
You'll do whatever you want
with your weeks

Don't cry, Silver,
for the apple you'll miss
Don't cry for my hand
down your side
Don't cry for my voice
or my hug or my kiss
or the trails that we
loved to ride

Don't weep my sweet Silver
don't pine for the past
Don't ponder on soft
skies of blue
Don't cry for what was
or what we did last
for I'll be doing
the crying for you.
