descriptive poem
He was there in the dark with you
watching you watch the stars.
You tried to count how many divine and burning spotlights there were that night
and the nights that followed...

When it rained
you heard the rhythm in your head
and played a little song.
You were in the dark with him
when he watched you weep and jolt.
Tried to dance to the melody of a beat that didn't exist
that night and the nights that followed.

Your bruises healed. The blood ran dry while
aching for your empty womb
your baby's breath would never make a mark on the window.
He held you down to puncture what was left of your haven
gave you reality while you pleaded for security.

The moon-dance didn't live after that night.
That night there were no stars out to count,
no rain to play a rhythm,
only a dark room
and a thief...
