Husband and wife meet in heaven.
HEAVENLY COUPLE

Wife:

O, come my dear, I am now here,
Waiting for you to come;
My heart has called and years have rolled,
I have been so lonesome.

Please tell me now, first of all how
Do fare our two children?
I left them there, that you take care,
When I came to heaven.

Husband:

But, look, my dear, now that I’m here,
Why not think of me now?
Why not first hug and yet make up,
For the lost time somehow?

Children are grown, to set up home,
They have all of them gone;
And I on earth, had joy nor mirth,
I was there so alone.

Wife:

Come on husband, though in heaven,
I, too, have been alone;
Waiting for you to start anew,
Our life of days bygone.

On earth we fought, we just forgot,
That both husband and wife,
As long they live, ought to forgive,
Each other in their life.

Both:

We are now one, up in heaven,
Never to part again;
We sing His praise, we crave His grace,
We don’t waste life in vain.

* Written in abcb 8-6-8-6 format, conjuring up the meeting of a couple in heaven, wife having preceded the husband.

• Writers get all sorts of reviews. I really cherish this one: “You are such an incredible talent, this poem gave me chills. You definitely have a way with words and how to touch the soul of the reader”.
