This is a poem about an elf forsaking immortality after years of war and hardship.
Long have I walked this land,
Long defied the shadow,
With my sword clasped in my hand
And my arrow at my bow

All my toil has been in vain
All my battles fruitless
For I could not ease the pain
Nor fend off needless deaths

I know now my days are spent
That my years are failing
All my sins I now repent
And in sorrow now I sing

The snow here upon my heart
Is never ending
And the storm will not depart--
My light is fading

No Sun will melt my frost
Nor disperse my Winter
No Spring will come to thaw
My harsh December
