A poem about a Dragon and her love. With a slight twist to the end!
Unblinking eyes of bright blue
With vertical slits of black
Pierce the darkness
Like orbs of blue fire

Their light radiating off the cavern walls
Reflecting in the scattered puddles of rain
They study the beauty before them
Warning and threat radiating from them

The dragon tilts her head to the side
And stretches her magnificent wings
Her armor of scales sparkles in the lantern light
Like golden rays of the rising sun

A breath of hot steam
Issues forth from her nose
Enveloping the beauty before her
Warmth of welcome and friendship
Amid a frigid blast of cold winter wind

Slowly and carefully the dragon’s beauty sits
Not wanting to disturb her treasures
Not knowing all along
He is one of them himself

The dragon curls her snakelike body
Around her treasure protectively
And lovingly brushes the golden curls of hair
Out of her treasures eyes

And staring back at her
Are eyes of emerald beauty
With little black slits
Like the dragon’s own
