the torment of regret
A festering wound
That will not heal
My sorrow each day
I try to conceal
With time I thought
The pain would cease
My mind at last
To be released
But guilt, relentless
Holds on still
A tattered heart
It tries to kill
A constant reminder
From which I can’t hide
Memories flood through
And destroy me inside
Please turn back the clock
To November the first
One day before
This life became cursed
My actions – I’d change
But would never forget
What life is like
With unfading regret
