My Loss

A hot sticky, July morning.
Woke with apprenhension across my chest.
Layed across the couch taking each spare second.
Startled by ringing of the phone.
Words coming across not making sense.
Tears would not come.
Hope settles in my heart and worry in my voice.
Push forward, dragging with each step.
A mask or a front to move on with my day.
My heart starts feeling a loss, but no call.
The call, the memories start flooding in.
The once young man turns into a baby.
Infant, toddler, and to young man inside my heart and mind.
He is no more.
Feelings of loss, pain, and anger.
He was once alive and true in my mind.
Now he is a memory.
A nephew I still love.
