A mother mourns for the loss of her child
ETERNAL SLEEP
by
E C WESCH

A mournful escape
into the past
nurtures my loneliness.
Joyful memories
filter through every pore
of my being
capturing
moments in time.

A pilgrimage
of images
parade before my eyes
seeking comfort.
And yet...
time has stood still
if only for a moment
lingering in the air
haltingly over my head.

I breathe
in the moment
of your departure
and softly weep.
For I shall weep
for a long
long time.

Into the darkness
you have traveled.
I pray,
you find your way
to the lightened tunnel.
I pray,
your soul dwells now
where the wind blows free,
and Angels sing lullabies
for your....eternal sleep.
