Just something I did when I was twelve in class. I think it helps

Location: old houses, forests, castles, dungeons, dark alleyways, grave yards, murder scene, historical places (stone henge), dumps. anciant battle fields, attics/cellars, new house built on old remains. Pretty much anywhere you can think of but these make the story easier to work out.

Character of Ghost: Good vs Evil, looks, poltergeist, is it a demon (inhabiting anothers body), does not beleive it's dead, wants revenge, helpful, warning.

Sounds: Crying, echoes, singing, screaming, wailing, clinking of chains, scratching, creaking of ropes, scuffling, voice, laughter.

Atmosphere: Cold, curtains moving but not draft/wind, temperature, tense, heavy, suspense.

Effects: Visions, nightmares, hallucinations, sense not to do something, curiousity.

Purpose: Revenge, nothing (being there), called back (ouija board), warning, trapped, watching over.

Reactions (main character/s): Disbelief, fear, sceptical, think they're going mad.

Weather: full moon, night, lightening, thunder, bangs, rain, phone ringing, wind, dimness, dawn, dusk, sunny/ too clear, icy, cold.

Appearences: Mirrors, from 'no where', wardrobe, walls, the ground, coffins, flooboards, place of death (think of moaning mrytle in her toilet!)

Hope this helps anyone trying it out fot the first time just like they helped me!
