A rhyming adventure involving pirates
Four shipmates boarded an abandoned boat,
Not knowing it contained a special note.
The leader noticed it just sitting there
And opened the aged paper with great care.
He called the others and told them to rest,
For tomorrow they would begin their quest.

The most famous pirate was Captain Redd.
Abandoned his crew and left them for dead.
He was not saddened or even ashamed.
He kept the best ones; below, they are named.
Redd desired the treasure most of all;
Over burning hot coals, for it he'd crawl.

The son of Captain Redd was Sammy Coin.
He hates pirate life, but was forced to join.
An awesome musician this boy became,
But kept to himself and did not want fame.
Black Ethel Bonney was his secret love,
The kind of woman he always dreamed of.

Black Ethel Bonney, bravest girl around.
Many a man has she fought, shot, and drowned.
She was the smartest of that group of four.
When men were lonely, they knocked on her door.
In the sun, they treated her like a man,
Although this was not how her life began.

Mad Harry Rackham was truly crazy.
He could crush you like you were a daisy.
He was extremely violent and cruel
And ever challenging Redd to a duel.
Harry was trained well to fight with a sword.
This was the one thing the others adored.

The rationality behind the nap,
Was the note Redd had was really a map,
The following day, they set out to sea,
Trailing the map, as precise as can be.
Not knowing for sure where the map will go.
But getting the loot is one thing they know.

They traveled and traveled for days on end,
Never once did they come across a friend.
But they did meet a ship called the Dark Star.
And they ogled at its size from afar,
Signaling battle, their flag was raised high.
Sam was scared, but Redd was ready to die.

The treasure map was the object in sight
And the reason for this brutal fight.
But the Dark Star members did not succeed.
The map was saved by Redd’s undying greed.
But they managed to steal Sammy’s treasure.
Ethel was his only form of pleasure.

Sammy was desperate to get her back,
But the others wouldn’t cut him some slack.
He begged and pleaded for them to save her
And in the end the others did concur.
They abandoned their search for the money
In order to rescue Sammy’s honey.

So Redd and his pals attacked at night
And with grapples in hand, they soon took flight.
They held their swords and prepared for the brawl,
With Harry’s knowledge, they killed them all.
Sammy then saw something truly stunning,
From the main cabin, Ethel came running.

After pulling off this amazing stunt,
They were able to continue their hunt.
After what seemed like years of exploring,
Their adventure was no longer boring.
For they had found where the gold was hoarded
And for all their work, they were rewarded.

Redd was overjoyed beyond belief
And the others were filled with great relief.
Sammy found that he liked the pirate life
And gained courage to make Ethel his wife.
So with their backs to the ocean foam,
It was time now for this crew to head home.
