Sonnet Written for contest. Prompt is the eight highlighted words.

It's time again to sit beneath the
tree.
The
red and green lights shine on every gift.
The candy and sugar make kids
silly.
It's
Christmas time so spirits have a lift.

The crazy shopping season is all done
And now it's time to sit back and enjoy.
So finish up your eggnog mixed with rum
While each kid beams with pride at a new toy.

It seems that Santa Clause has come again
And left behind gift wrap to cover floors.
You clean the yearly mess and wonder then,
How many months before it's back to stores?

Yet as you see all of the children smile,
You know that all of it is so worthwhile.
