A Family Poem Re-written for my son Ben
Jack Frost

Chill air and icicles hang sharp! The hoar-frost is nigh
It is all Jack Frost’s work done with his frosty cold eye!

*Snow2*

All the trees, instead of leaves are touched by his wand
All water no longer flows, but is still as the millpond

*Snow2*

Girls and boys in mittens, socks and gowns
Stay inside! Stay inside! While Jack Frost is in town!

*Snow2*

Look out  at Jack’s icy cold work from your window ledge
But be careful! His mere glance is command and pledge

*Snow2*

You’ll be his forever, mere crackling, slivered ice
Crumbling and melting as soon as he’s by

*Snow2*

So look and enjoy, the picturesque spoils, little girl, little boy
Look at the sparkling white ice that Jack Frost dost deploy!

*Snow2*

Heed Me! Do not go out to play! Stay Safe! By your hearthside
Don’t venture out til Jack’s gone to other pastures, untried.

*Snow2*
