What do you see in their eyes: trust...or fear?
Sweet Little Child

Innocent, trusting, sweet little child,
Sit here with me for a little while;
Let me tell you how lovely you are;
Let me tell you what trust is for.

God gave you to both your father and mother,
But sometimes he entrusted you to some other;
To love and protect you for time unending,
Your tears to erase, your sorrows mending.

But why is there fear in your beautiful eyes?
I see it there, and hear your cries;
Has someone betrayed the trust you had,
Battered your soul with acts that were bad?

What evil it is to injure a child;
Our God in Heaven it must sadden and rile;
No fault of their own they’ve suffered abuse,
Never for any can there be an excuse.

Broken, tortured,and marked for life,
Sometimes they die from all the strife;
The angels in Heaven must shed a tear
For every case of abuse they hear.

Look at the child so beaten and broken;
There needs not a single word to be spoken,
All the little children need protection and love;
Surely it pleases our Master above.

Just read or hear the news, and every day you learn of abuse of the worst kind to little children.
