Friends or more?
What is this thing between us
that we refuse to name?
There are others all around us
that see right through our game.
We use all of the safe words
like concern and even care.
We know just what it is and yet
know that we don't dare.
This thing that is between us
has been there from the start.
Always has and always will
come right from the heart.
