Putting my boots and the Great Outdoors in perspective... Chained haiku Mini-SLAM entry.

Muddy leather boots
now return to the closet
like sleepers from dreams.

Dappled with sandstone,
they awaken, twin pillars
stretching to the sky.

Drying formations
carve riverbeds and gulches
in their clay-capped soles.

Broken laces, frayed,
secure footholds in niches
across their great voids.

Patiently, they stand,
weathered by the elements
yet untouched by time.
