A fanciful poem about the power of wishes.

I have traveled through my wishes,
Dreamt in years of resting sleep;
And my journeys have invited me
To views of history.

For I've met the ancient Vikings,
Ridden trains of bravery;
Seen the mountain men discover,
Distant lands in reverie.

I have crouched beside gentle men,
And gazed beneath the veil,
Of tinkerers and wanderers,
And men who manned the sail.

Through hearts of battles’ victors,
Or the souls who took to flight;
In the ragged contemplation
Of inventors bringing light,

In my dreams I was beside them.
I, too, could feel the air,
Of discoveries in motion
And milestones witnessed there.

Through these journeys I am humbled,
And marvel what is past;
For the lanky roughen fellas
Have delivered me a glass,

Of future that is present
And present that can bend
To these many nights of wishes,
From this ordinary man.
