Heart is more powerful than the mind

A wise mind knows that despite
Its being powerful, smart,
Even greater powers are
Bestowed on a small heart.

A wise mind realizes
That it can calculate,
But its calculations fail
Before the supreme fate.

A wise mind can also feel
And not only reason,
It senses things that exist
Though they can’t be proven.

A wise mind appreciates
That love’s melodious note
Pervades all thought and action,
That is why Cloleridge wrote:

“All thoughts, all passions, all delights,
Whatever stirs this mortal frame,
All are but ministers of Love,
And feed his sacred flame”.

* Written in abcb 7-6-7-6 format

* The last stanza is borrowed from the poem “Love” written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834),
