The rain turned into buckets, and the road became a downslide. At first my car was bucking 'cross the roadway’s topside, Then my tonsils screamed. Muscle-clenched and bug-eyed, I felt a tumbling of the rocks as I glided down the mountainside. Well, imagine my surprise, as I toured the local countryside Via sideways escalator twisting on that rock-filled waterslide. I passed a frog, two lizards, and a cougar all vastly stupefied, But they soon enrolled to join the route quickly going shoreside. Along the way, three rats jumped in to try the rousing hayride. Our carload crooned while the radio played its songs of Christmastide: The rats’ had high-pitched squeaks that seemed nicely diversified, The lizards with their alto groans had grunts that were intensified By the cougar’s howls that blended nicely and were also amplified By my vocal yells and chattering teeth on this freefall of a ride. When we’d slithered down the cliff’s abrupt and slippery backside, We hit the surf with a heavy splatter and a mighty spray of tide. We gasped and sighed, out of breath and certainly horror-eyed But our impact with the liquidy cold had left us quite dissatisfied, So alas, we parted company as we fled that auto of our joyride. |
