It’s cold, with a coldness
Of too many things
That have died in the night
That will no longer sing

Cold, with an emptiness
Devoid of life
Sweet and warm
And safe from strife

Waiting with longing
For sun’s first bright rays
To warm my cold soul
And take nightmares away

Best to stay snuggled
Safe and warm
Far away from
Dawn’s cold arms
