Sometimes the best way to mourn is to free yourself from the past.
“Broken”

She’s lost in the words of yesterday
Where angels danced and children played
With star shone eyes and baited breath
She loved them all til none were left.

Now fiery eyes and not much more
She’s emerged again just as before
Too weak to go home and too sad to play
Saving all her strength for her final days

Living the lies since she was born
The truth a cloak so tattered and worn
Too scared to go forth and too proud to go back
She watches the clock tick another attack

The days behind find her heart again
As she squints so hard to remember when
Everything was together and not so broken
When words were promises left unspoken

How she longs for the day when all was bliss
One stolen night lost in fate’s sweet kiss
When no one expected you to bend or break
And the baggage held but your heart to take

Obsessing over the places she used to go
When he loved her beyond words and told her so
Now so desolate and ready for flight
She falls from grace into seamless night.
