Domestic Minutia
Grey skies silhouette deeper grey shapes. Hazy grey drizzle hangs, then drips invisibly to melt into the wet grey slate. The clothes hang motionless and wet on the line. Each shirt seems suspended in time and space, held against the sky by invisible and mystical means. The weight of the rain has forced the arms to hang forlornly in front as if repenting, lacking any will, passively enduring their fate. Each neck is lowered despondently as if in prayer. Rows of lifeless desolate shirts, bent into submission by the elements, bereft of any hint of their past glory. They hang side by side like forsaken friendless ghosts. Motionless, like a still photo as the drizzle freeze frames each despairing form.
