Senses poem I wrote for a writing class
Crying in the Rain
The rain pours down outside my window but also inside me

The scent of a summer storm entices happiness
But the disappointment stays, crashing like thunder,
And a tear slips out of my reddened eye.

So overcome with sadness,
The grief cannot be expressed,
And the taste of my tears reminds me,
Of all the opportunities I'll miss.

The sky begins to lighten,
And the birds begin to sing.
Then slowly I wipe away my tears
And see the joy fresh rain brings.

Suddenly I'm not quite so sad
Though there's still a scar on my heart.
I've found some comfort despite the pain,
By simply crying in the rain.
