A cowboy has always been the man of my dreams.
LATIGO LEATHER AND SADDLE SOAP
June 25, 1990

Some day I'll meet a cowboy
with sage brush on his shirt.
Sautéed in perspiration,
boots dusted with dirt.

A man whose knees are molded
in a bow to fit a horse.
Prickled with the mesquite,
complexion tough and course.

A man who wears the distance
with a passion in his eyes,
whose heart has seen the sunsets
where the wild free bird flies.

A man who fits the image
of a latigo leather lope,
a curb bit and a bridle
and a bar of saddle soap.
