a poem about the forgotten homeless children
Shivering alone on a winter night,
This child we do not see
Waits hopeful that one day we’ll come,
Provide for all her needs.
But most of all, this child longs
For just someone who cares.
She needs to feel a loving arm
One strong, yet gentle; one fair.
When the world has turned against her,
It is our time to rise up
To protect her from the cold of night
To freely show God’s love.
In a world that’s filled with horror
With famine, war, and blood,
Cold and sad this child waits.
She does not have enough.
How much time will we ponder?
How long until we start?
For despaired and weak
This child waits
This child with a broken heart.
