Two parallel thoughts, wishing to become one. Experimental structure.

This poem is about a Man and a Woman from adjacent though adversary countries, whose National Days, celebrate victories over each other.
The two of them have fallen in love beyond boundaries or differences and the only thing that keeps them apart is distance and social prejudice.

Alone          Alone
each night          each night
he gazes across the ocean          she gazes across the ocean
where his beloved resides.          where her beloved abides.

He whispers words of love to the wind          She is listening to what the wind holds
with his eyes full of tears          with her eyes full of tears
and a crave in his thoughts:          and a wish in her thoughts:
The day two races conciliate.          The day two worlds reconcile.

Each night          Each night
he renounces his heritage.          she renounces her legacy.

Alone          Alone
with her memory          with his memory
he stands strong          she  stands  firm
...for her          for him...

Fear besets his soul          Fear besieges her soul
and deprives him of his sole dream:          and deprives her of her sole dream:

The day he will be with her,          The day she will be with him,
