Some of the sacrifices that a soldier makes.
FOR FREEDOM’S SAKE

He grew up in hills and vales
Amongst cedars and oaks.
But one day he said goodbye
To his old gentle folks.
He left them all, for freedom’s sake.

He had a lovely sweetheart
Whose eyes held a bright gleam.
They both had a little secret
And shared a common dream.
But they parted, for freedom’s sake.

He worked in a workshop and
Had mastered all the ropes.
Of having his own workshop
Some day he had high hopes.
He gave them up, for freedom’s sake.

Now, away from home and hearth,
Away from his sweetheart,
Away from the job he liked,
He had made a new start.
He went for it, for freedom’s sake.
