the gentle letting go of a dying child
She planted seeds of happiness
along a short journey of life.
Warming people, soothing aches,
sprinkling sunshine on a winter day.
Her laughter; pleasing wind chimes.

A lovely hint of heath in henna-gold hair,
Courtney’s emerald eyes stole the show.
A tragic hole in her heart was taking her home.
Our Irish lassie was poised too close
to a spiritual realm where angels fly.

She deserves a magic place of fantasy.
Where flowers are lollipops,
trees dangle dolls and chocolate bars,
paths are covered in lemon drops.
A gingerbread home is full of delights.

These are dreams for my child,
no more needle sticks, machines, surgery.
You are so very special, wee one.
Prancing on a soft pink pony,
sailing over a rainbow to your cloud.

Stuffed animals and friends await
no more pain, medicine or tubes.
I can not follow you there now,
but angels will mother you,
rock you to sleep until I come home.
