A special poem about chasing a lady in white that is trying to escape the same darkness.

Darkened clouds
A wondrous wild
All around
Escaping pain
In the distance
Possible change
The lady in white
I have never seen her face
Always she gets away
Running towards her fate
While I am crawling away from mine
She is heading for what she believes
She is unimpressed with me
And my ability to give chase
I call out her name
She will not reply
I am a stranger to her
Such an impossible danger
That she wants nothing to do with
She has been living
In her own nightmarish dream
Always fighting her demons
Many loses for every one win
But somehow she still has hope
A luxury that I cannot afford
An ideal that I find absurd
If I was to catch her
If I was to get her to stop
To acknowledge my existence
I would do nothing but add to her pain
I would do nothing but complicate her escape
In the distance she sees change
Rays of oblivious light
Waiting to break on through
Wanting to shine anew
Meant for those on the cusp
Of such absolutes
Unlike her
I see nothing but darkness
Nothing but the closing storm
There in the scalding hues
She fights to see an abundance of truth
While clearly I see nothing but absolute lies
She is running away from darkness
Making her way through madness
I am crawling headlong into
All that I am sure that I deserve
Our god is certainly not the same
Her faith has remained unchanged
While mine has become brutally stained
She has the power to get through
To escape beyond her eyes
A naïve ideological approach
That I am incapable of
I give chase because I
In the smallest of regard
Foolishly wish to be like her
I know that I will never catch
The lady in white
We may be on the same path
Heading in the same direction
But our reasons why
Couldn’t be more different
I will never hold her close
I will never see her face
Or know the story it tells
I will never see into the depths of her eyes
The best that I can wish for
Is to never lose sight of her
The lady in white has somehow become
My version of hope in this world of hopelessness
That for now both her and I still call home…
