Chicago Cubs are World Series champs.

World Series’ champs—Chicago Cubs;
it’s been awhile since they’ve won.
Over one hundred years in fact;
in baseball, they are number one.

I rooted for the Indians;
Ohio is my home, you see.
The series lasted seven games;
Chicago won it, four to three.

I think Chicago jumps for joy
while Cleveland wallows in the sad.
Yet one team had to win, of course—
both teams excelled—gave all they had.

Oh Wrigley Field—the memories!
The outfield ivy so arrayed.
And for a time there were no lights,
so nighttime baseball was not played.

Now there are lights, and so it goes;
ivy extant, brick outfield wall.
One time there was a long, line drive;
it took some time to find the ball.

But searching ivy for the ball
is minimized to thwart the drat.
Chicago Cubs are champions,
and so to them I tip my hat.
