What 1994 was like for me.
1994

It was the year of budding romances,
a time we believed in second chances.

What should’ve been a happy time of life
soon filled with heartbreak and strife.

That year began with doors open wide
until the day my best friend died.

It should have been a year, happy to the end;
that was before I lost my best friend.

Storm clouds raged all around
the day we laid him in the ground.

1994 should have been a year of fun,
now forever lost to a loaded gun.

We were supposed to graduate from high school;
instead I drowned in sorrow’s pool.

A great year 1994 started out to be,
until the night something died inside of me.
