Josh and Cary exchange vows.
The day had finally, Cary hadn't gotten much sleep last night, because he’d been trying to imagine what the synagogue looked like. It had been a week since they’d seen the auditorium. When Percy had described, what he wanted to do, Cary had worried that it was too over the for the top, for the rabbi’s taste, and the Rehearsal had been held in small auditorium just north of the Banquet Hall across the street. And the unveiling would be today.
Bob and Mike had planned and organized the entire event, but Percy Waynewright, and a team of dedicated friends had decorated the synagogue auditorium and Mike had said the small auditorium was just bird’s eye view of the inside of the synagogue. After the Dress rehearsal, Cary had voiced his concerns about how out of character it would be to Rabbi Eckstein’s more traditional eye, and Mike had reassured him the rabbi had been enthused by the idea when Percy explained what he planned, and he’d signed off on it, following the Rehearsal. But beautiful was an understatement what they had seen earlier in the walk-through.
Tears filled Cary’s eyes as he stood at the doors waiting for the cue to start the processional. Large blue satin bows decorated the ends of the pews on the Cary’s Family side of the synagogue, and large Gray and white satin bows hung over the ends of the pews on Josh’s Family side. An enormous White Wicker Basket vase filled with blue and white roses, yellow Baby’s Breath, and green Fern adorned either side of the aisle in the back and the front of the synagogue, and two more tall Wicker vases sat on the podium, it top covered with a blue satin fringed runner. A blue carpet, as opposed to the traditional red carpet, covered the aisle between the pews.
It was finally 1100 hours Monday morning, and wearing white Tuxedos, Josh and Cary were about to recite their vows before a congregation of nearly eighty family and friends. The strains of How Can I Live Without You filled the auditorium, and everything just seemed right.
Matt Martins had fastened an iridescent blue and white rose into the right lapel of Josh’s Tux. And Sham had fastened an iridescent gray and white rose to Cary’s lapel. Josh wore a white silk shirt with ruffled cuffs, and an Ecru Lace Cravat. And Cary’s blue silk shirt brought the color of his eyes, and the ruffled cuffs and identical cravat added just the right amount of bling to their attire. The music crescendoed, as How can I Live Without You was repeated twice, and the processional began.
