Poetry depicting how I enjoy watching a summer storm and going to sleep listening to them.
The day is hot and sticky,
The air is calm and wet.
I’m sitting in the tree shade
My body soaked with sweat.

No clouds to challenge sunshine
Above the sky is bright and blue,
But on the distant west horizon
Dark storm clouds start to brew.

A breeze now stirs around me
Feeling chill against my skin,
As dark clouds race above me;
There’s a cold front moving in.

Now the sky is dark and angry,
It’s filled with clouds of gray.
The howling wind surrounds me
Forcing trees to bend and sway.

Booming thunder shakes the heavens
Blue-white lightning rips the sky.
I hasten to the house for shelter
As dust and debris goes flying by.

This summer day is ending
And I stretch and give a yawn;
Peaceful sleep soon overcomes me
As the storm’s fury rages on.
