(Flash fiction) The dinosaurs make a last effort to be remembered.
It was a sunny day, the dinosaurs were doing their daily routine, eating leaves and grass, eating small animals, or even eating others of their kind, it was all like the ordinary. One moment later, everything was gone. The place was red, filled with fire. The trees were burning, the grass was burning, everything is turning to dust, yellow dust. There were no more dinosaurs, small stone fragments from space burned the lands, killed all of their species, except one.

One dinosaur who was chasing after a lizard fell into a deep cave, he survived the meteor shower, just like most of the animals, hiding in their holes. The dinosaurs didn't have anything like that, because they didn't need a roof on top of their heads, or somewhere to hide, so they had nowhere to run, and died out. The last dinosaur caught his prey and left the cave a day later.

He looked at the bones of his kind, 'how could this happen?' the dinosaur thought. he wandered for day after day, searching for another dinosaur.

'We will not be forgotten!' the dinosaur's mind was racing, he started working, day and night, collecting his ancestors' ashes into one pile, he spread the pile wide, beside the ocean. Every dinosaur he knew is ash, right in front of him, a line longer than five miles.

But there were other survivors, in different islands and parts of the world, they all did the same, a line of ash in front of them. Was that natural instinct? The remaining dinosaurs died eventually, after creating the long pile of ash, stretching all the way to the horizon. The bones of the dinosaurs that created the piles of ash were discovered later by scientists, as fossils. The piles of ash were discovered a long time ago, but they never knew it was from dinosaurs, it was always known to humans as sand.
