Cravings can take over the entire mind and body - a poem.
The mind and body,
Still detached and knowing,
Now saunter and summit;
The bitter cold settles in,
As the eye of the twister dutifully circles.
Entranced by a consciousness
And generous pang,
We enter a euphoria of longing,
Dying for a food or substance
Of improbable decadence,
Of sheer delight...

Marching on despite
These yearnings,
We assert ourselves
And tackle the busy grind;
A routine packed with jobs, promise,
And constant dealings.
But in the back of our minds
Lays a craving so unique,
Yet so bizarre,
That the whole of our existence
Becomes transformed -
An ecstasy of somewhat kind,
Yet now so calculated,
Edgy indifference...
