A short poem about the truth people hide.

If you come a little closer,

You shall see,

That the thing I am,

Isn't really me.

Beneath my smile,

My heart, it aches.

Beneath my laugh,

My soul, it breaks.

Silence is my way,

Of dealing with the pain.

The pain that I see drip,

Drip down the drain.

Broken mirrors,

In an empty space.

The reflection, it shows

An unfamiliar face.

Close your eyes,

I hear the words recall.

Think happy thoughts,

Don't let the tears fall.

But it isn't easy,

To be me.

I'm trapped in this Hell,

And I want to be free.

Silence drowns me;

I'm struggling for air.

I look up to the sky,

And soon I'll be there.

I'm sorry I cried,

But I really tried.

I just couldn't decide,

To show who I am inside.

It's getting dark.

Seconds from the end.

It wasn't supposed to be this way.

50 thousand tears I've cried.

I'm no longer afraid to dream,

To sleep forever.

I'm never gonna be your sweet, sweet surrender.
