The Lord answered me by blessing us with one more miracle shortly after I wrote this one.
We wanted one more
yet none on the way.
The sun has now set
on a once hopeful day.

Never again
shall we soothe baby’s cry
nor feed warm concoction
rocking angel goodnight.

Chapters, they close
as life carries on.
New ones will open.
Every dusk means a dawn.

So we’ll care for our girls,
though they’re babies no more
and banish sad thoughts
of babes nevermore.
