They've shared these moments before w/ others, but a couple hopes they no longer have to.
Let's be nervous
even though we've both done this before.
Each tingle and tickle
feels so adolescently new.
And you can gasp, and I can tremble.
Let's fumble, and maybe
accidentally bump heads or
forget who we are for a minute
or more.
And let's remember
that we'll never get our first time back
but it's ours to maintain
and rearrange and contemplate;
the tempting ending of a beginning chapter
in the last book
of an epic series
where every tic and breath
and kiss and flinch
is a page we've composed only in movements
our intimacy assembled as if to say
"This is everything
because I don't want this with anyone else
and my heart can't go through this
again."
Let's be us.
